The BBC apologized to Donald Trump for wrong editing of his speech, but the organization refused to pay any compensation. The BBC admitted that the editing of Trump’s January 6, 2021 speech created a misleading impression, making it seem as if he directly encouraged violence.
The BBC explained that different parts of Trump’s speech were joined in a way that changed the meaning. The broadcaster expressed regret over the mistake and announced that the program aired in 2024 will not be shown again in the future.

According to the BBC, the issue has already led to the resignation of Director General Tim Davie and Head of News Deborah Turness. Their departure followed internal pressure and criticism over the editing error.
It is important to note that Donald Trump had threatened the BBC with a one-billion-dollar lawsuit over the controversial editing in the documentary. Trump’s legal team accused the broadcaster of misrepresenting his words and damaging his reputation.

BBC lawyers said they have responded to the letter sent by Trump’s legal team. According to media reports, Trump’s lawyers had given the BBC a deadline until 5 p.m. today to reply.
